Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing the right greaseproof paper sheets and food presentation papers can help improve food presentation and make serving easier. Below, we’ve answered some common questions about printed greaseproof paper, wax liners, sizes and catering uses to help you find the right products for your venue.
What is greaseproof paper used for in catering?
Greaseproof paper sheets are commonly used to line serving baskets, trays and boards, helping protect surfaces from grease and food residue. They’re popular for presenting burgers, chips, sandwiches, fish and chips and other casual dining dishes. Printed designs also add a decorative finishing touch, making them useful for pubs, cafes, restaurants and street-food venues.
What is the difference between greaseproof paper and wax paper?
Greaseproof paper is designed to resist grease and oil, making it useful for food wrapping and presentation. Wax paper has a wax coating that helps resist moisture and is commonly used for suitable food liners. Both can be useful in catering, but their heat resistance and intended uses may differ. Always check the manufacturer’s instructions before using either paper with hot food or cooking equipment.
Which presentation paper is best for burgers and street food?
The best food presentation paper depends on your menu and the style of your venue. Our Burger and Diner papers complement burgers, chips and American-style dining. Catch of the Day is ideal for traditional fish and chip presentation, while Cutlery print offers a versatile design for cafés and pubs. Blue wax liners provide a simpler finish for suitable baskets and trays.
Can greaseproof paper be used to wrap food?
Some greaseproof paper sheets are suitable for wrapping food, including burgers, sandwiches and other takeaway items. However, suitability depends on the product’s food-contact specifications and intended use. Always check whether the paper is approved for direct food contact and appropriate for the food’s temperature and grease content.
