Whisky Glasses

Frequently Asked Questions

The right whisky glass enhances the aroma, flavour and presentation of every serve, helping guests enjoy premium spirits to their fullest. Below, we’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions about whisky glasses and their use in commercial beverage service.

What are whisky glasses used for?

Whisky glasses are designed to serve whisky, bourbon and other spirits while enhancing their aroma, flavour and presentation. Popular styles include whisky tumblers for serving whisky neat, over ice or in cocktails, and Glencairn-style tasting glasses, which feature a tulip-shaped bowl to concentrate aromas for whisky tastings. Other options, such as copita and snifter glasses, are also used for premium spirits. Widely used in bars, restaurants, hotels and hospitality venues, the best whisky glass depends on the style of service and the drinking experience you want to create.

What size whisky glass should I use?

The whisky glass size depends on how you plan to serve the drink. Tasting glasses typically hold around 6oz, making them ideal for serving whisky neat and allowing aromas to develop. Whisky tumblers generally range from 8-12oz, providing plenty of room for ice, whisky stones or whisky-based cocktails such as an Old Fashioned. Always check the product specification for the exact capacity to choose the most suitable glass for your venue.

What are whisky glasses made from?

Professional whisky glasses are commonly manufactured from glass or crystal, offering a combination of durability, clarity and elegant presentation. Glass whisky tumblers are ideal for everyday commercial use, while crystal whisky glasses provide exceptional brilliance and a more premium appearance. The best choice depends on your venue’s style, budget and service requirements.

Are whisky glasses dishwasher safe?

Many commercial whisky glasses are dishwasher safe, making them suitable for bars, restaurants and hotels. Always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions to help maintain clarity and prolong the lifespan of the glassware.
